Basel is a city of contrasts. Historic and modern. Calm and vibrant. Traditional and creative. And as someone who creates handcrafted cupcakes in Basel, I couldn't help but notice something funny:

Every neighbourhood reminds me of cupcake flavor.

Here is Basel - reimagined as cupcakes.

Grossbasel - Vanilla

Classic. Elegant. Timeless.

Grossbasel is the historic heart of the city. The Rathaus, the cathedral, the old streets - everything feels established and strong. That's why it can only be vanilla. Not "boring vanilla" - but real vanilla. The kind that never goes out of style.

And during Fasnacht? Just add colorful sprinkles - and suddenly tradition becomes festive.

Kleinbasel - Chocolate

Creative. Dynamic. Authentic.

Kleinbasel has energy. Street art. Culture. Diversity. It feels alive.

Chocolate fits perfectly here. Deep, rich, slightly intense. A flavour with character.

Not trying to impress. Just confidently itself.

St. Alban - Blueberry

Queit. Elegant. Dreamy.

St. Alban feels peaceful. Almost poetic. A little hidden from the noise. Blueberry cupcakes reflect that softness. Slightly sweet, tart, refined without being loud.

A flavor you appreciate slowly.

Bachletten - Oreo

Playful. Family friendly. Cosy.

Close to the zoo, full of families and kids - Bachletten has its charm. Just like Oreo cupcake. It's fun, so familiar and comforting.

The kind of flavor that makes everyone smile.

Gundeli - Raspberry

Lively. Young. A little bold.

Gundeli definitely has character. It's evolving, modern, full of personality. Raspberry is vibrant and slightly cheeky. Sweet, but with a spark of acidity.

Riehen - Matcha

Green. Calm stylish.

Riehen feels open and relaxed, close to nature and art.

Matcha fits perfectly, it is elegant, modern and balanced. Not everyone's everyday choice . but those who love it, truly love it.

Basel is diverse. And so are cupcakes.

Which neighbourhood are you? Should I do part 2?

And of course if you are looking for handcrafted cupcakes in Basel or Baselland for your next celebration - I'd love to bake for you!
